Securex Triana
Hacking the Child Benefit Fund
Forcit and Securex? Why?
Day 1
Introduction and design of the design problem
On the first day of Triana Innovation Week, the focus was on creating a vision for the new service of the Child Support Fund. Throughout the day, Securex employees were interviewed to find out what the new service needed; to figure out the risks and to outline future plans. The goal of the day was to come up with the design problem, which would be the central idea around which the different teams would work over the next four days.
Day 2
Interactive design for users
The second day of innovation week was all about the user. We imagined user scenarios about the interaction between a person and the new service, written down between different teams. From these different scenarios, a design idea was derived that could be useful in these specific situations. This idea lent itself to creating the first basic concept designs, which were presented by different people to their fellow team members. From these different concepts, the best solution was generated. This became our first step toward a final design.
Day 3
Paper prototyping
On day three, we first had to figure out which designs would go on to be prototyped. The first task was to create a storyboard of these prototypes and subject them to external review and critique from other teams. The rest of the day was spent developing the paper prototypes; turning the design concepts into actual designs made with just paper and other crafting tools. These designs were photographed and uploaded at the end of the day, when the teams had decided on their best solution to the design problem.
Day 4
User tests
Day four's agenda included finishing the paper prototypes of the various teams. After this final revision, the teams were sent out to present the different prototypes to outsiders. Some teams presented their prototypes to Securex employees, others did so to potential customers outside Securex. These results allowed us to test, validate and improve one final and complete prototype.
Day 5
Results
On the last day, the final prototype was presented to and discussed with the board of directors. The final version was a new product and accompanying service that put the Child Support Fund in the client's pocket; an application that would provide them with the best solution for their personal needs. This app also came with several options to help parents with coupons, budgeting and payments. It is a new, innovative and digital way for parents to deal with the Child Support Fund.
